The Trailblazers begin the regular season where we ended the playoffs last year….playing the Houston Rockets. As much as I am sure both the team and the fans will enjoy a chance to get revenge at the Rockets for bumping us out of the first round of the playoffs, it will be a different Rockets team we see tonight. Yao Ming is probably out for the season with a broken foot. That alone is a huge difference. Plus, Ron Artest has left Houston for the bright lights of TinselTown and is now a Los Angeles Laker. His spot in the Rockets lineup has been taken by former Laker Trevor Ariza. Ariza, of course, is well known to Blazer fans for knocking Rudy to the floor during a blowout of the Lakers last spring in Portland. The other big change for the Rockets is the return of the NBA’s highest paid player, Tracy McGrady. McGrady who is recovering from microfracture surgery, is in the last year of his contract, and looking to prove to everyone he can still play with the best of them. Tracy won’t be ready to play until the latter part of November. How he’ll fit with this group, or if his knee will hold up no one knows.
